H.E.L.P. International is mobilizing efforts of all sorts to provide and transport assistance to Haiti.
There are several ways people can help:
Financially-support for shipping costs for the supplies and travel costs for the two teams we are hoping to send (1 assessment team who will be leaving quickly followed by a medical assist team)
We can use hands right now to help pack boxes for the containers that will be shipped. We are normally open M-TH, 9-4 but will be expanding those hours to accommodate groups of volunteers needing to work evenings or weekends.
In kind donations-summer clothing, medical supplies and school supplies will be needed immediately and will be sent on the first load.
Rocky Mountain Pellet Company Inc.,The Filling Station in Wellington CO, H.E.L.P International, Loveland CO, Burgner Trucking, Fort Collins- Laramie WY , and Anderson Ace, Hardware Wellington CO, have joined in an effort to provide heating assistance to families and individuals in need this season. For every bag of Rocky Mountain Pellets sold portion of that sale will be used to provide heating assistance. 750 donated bags have just arrived at the H.E.L.P. International warehouse in Loveland.
Our domestic distribution effort is in full swing. HELP at Home is currently partnering with over 20 local agencies to help meet the needs of those right here in Colorado. We are also solidifying our efforts to make regular outreaches to the many Native American Reservations.
Our food outreach has exceeded over 200,000# as Shawn & Mary Ragan have brought their first year of giving to a close this past September. If you are interested in helping them with donations, call Shawn at 970-689-0897.
Our newest project brings the reality of our current economic condition very close to home and close to our hearts. Recent numbers show that there are over 700 children in the Poudre Valley school district alone, which agencies are now saying are homeless. HELP at Home has begun a monthly outreach to these kids and their families but we need many hands to make this work. If you can give 1 hour a month to help sort clothing or be part of our distribution efforts, please contact Mary at 970-689-0947.
